In this group, classified agents can cause serious diseases;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"s2\"><b>Group 4<\/b>: As in the third, this group includes all biological agents that may be of high potential health risk to workers and spread among individuals and for which there are usually no preventive measures and treatments. Also in this group, classified agents can cause serious illness to individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\"><span class=\"s2\">When a biological substance cannot be assigned to either of the last two groups, the classification should be assigned to the group with a higher potential risk.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The employer&#8217;s obligations<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">The employer is required by law to proceed in drawing up the <b>biohazard assessment<\/b> document: it must support the most appropriate prevention and protection measures based on the risk factors and define any actions to reduce or eliminate exposure to hazardous biological agents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s4\">In the details of <\/span><span class=\"s5\">Legislative Decree 81\/2008 the employer&#8217;s obligations concern:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s2\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"s2\"><b>biological risk assessment<\/b> (consider in which group the biological agent is classified);<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s2\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"s2\"><b>the technical, organizational and procedural measures<\/b>  (such as taking protective measures and limiting as much as possible the number of workers exposed to the risk of biological agents, providing for the disposal of waste in a suitable manner, drafting a protocol that is safe and appropriate for the handling and transportation of biological agents);<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s2\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"s2\"><b>hygienic measures<\/b> (such as making sure that workers have proper sanitary facilities and protective equipment);<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p9\"><span class=\"s2\">&#8211;<\/span><span class=\"s3\"> <\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>emergency<\/b> measures (the employer must take emergency measures if a biological substance assigned to groups 2,3, or 4 has been dispersed due to an accident;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s2\">&#8211;<\/span> <span class=\"s2\"><b>specific information and training for workers <\/b>(the employer has an obligation to inform and train his employees such as on hygiene measures to be followed or about precautions to be taken to avoid exposure).<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":2961,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_joinchat":[],"footnotes":""},"categories":[67],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3118","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-occupational-medicine"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Biohazard assessment: what is it and what is it about? &#187; Servizi Synergos<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Biohazard assessment is the analysis of biological agents that may endanger the health of workers.
